Sustainable Impact

Good for farmers, the economy, the country and the planet

Improving the Environment

Biodiesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel are made from a diverse mix of renewable and recycled resources that are cleaner than traditional fossil fuels. In ground, air, marine and rail transportation, as well as home heating applications, clean fuels use will exceed 6 billion gallons by 2030. This use will eliminate more than 50 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Building a Stronger Economy

With plants and markets across the country, the U.S. biodiesel and renewable diesel industry supports 107,400 U.S. jobs and pays $6 billion in annual wages. The industry is at the center of more than $42.4 billion in economic activity.

The industry’s continued growth could bring even greater returns to the U.S. economy.

Supporting Healthier Communities

Clean Fuels, through its partnership with Trinity Consultants, recently released the results of a groundbreaking study on the air quality benefits of using biodiesel. Switching to B100 provides immediate community health improvements that can be measured in reduced medical costs and health care burdens. Benefits identified included:

  • Nearly 457,000 reduced asthma cases
  • Nearly 177,000 fewer sick days
  • Cancer cases reduced by more than 10,000
  • Over $9.6 billion in avoided health costs annually
