More Sustainable Fuels

Good for farmers, the economy, the country and the planet

Improving the Environment

Biodiesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel are made from a diverse mix of renewable and recycled resources that are cleaner than traditional fossil fuels. In ground, air, marine and rail transportation, as well as home heating applications, clean fuels use will exceed 6 billion gallons by 2030. This use will eliminate more than 50 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Building a Stronger Economy

With plants and markets across the country, the U.S. biodiesel and renewable diesel industry supports 75,200 U.S. jobs and pays $3.6 billion in annual wages. The industry is at the center of more than $23.2 billion in economic activity each year.

Every 100 million gallons of production supports 3,200 jobs and $1.09 billion in economic opportunity for farm workers, producers and distributors.

Supporting Healthier Communities

Clean Fuels, through its continued partnership with Trinity Consultants, recently released the results of Phase 2 of a groundbreaking study on the air quality benefits of biodiesel. Benefits identified included:

  • Reduced asthma cases
  • Fewer sick days
  • Reduced cancer cases
  • Over $7.5 billion in avoided health costs annually
